Giriraj Singh's remarks to please prime Modi: Congress

INDIA: NEW DELHI: Rattled by the racist remarks against Sonia Gandhi, Giriraj Singh represented the nature of leaders Prime Minister Narendra Modi  has rewarded with ministerial berths, underlining that the intemperate remarks emanating from BJP from time to time were aimed at flattering Modi. It also demanded that the PM should sack Singh from his ministry.

Priyanka Vadra's husband Robert Vadra said he was "appalled" by the statement about his mother-in-law. Calling her a "woman of immense dignity. Is this the way we speak about a lady, who has undergone hardships all through her life and has lost her loved ones for the nation. Robert Vadra wrote "If the government and their ministers cannot respect her (Sonia), if they make... racist comments about her, what about all the other women in our country?"

Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala said, "We deprecate and condemn the distasteful remarks of union minister Singh bordering on insanity. It appears that continuous quest to appease Modi has made him lose his balance. Such remarks are reflective of lack of moral fibre in BJP and its cadre." He reminded that Singh made a similarly controversial remark during 2014 elections when he said that people opposing Modi would have to migrate to Pakistan after the results.

Perhaps, he is the only person who refused to reclaim Rs 1.14 crore of currency as also US dollars recovered by police after apprehending those who committed  a theft in his house," Surjewala said about a mysterious theft at Singh's residence, adding "for conduct of this nature, the PM rewarded him by appointing him a minister."

The party lamented that provocative remarks from BJP ministers and MPs were routine in the Modi regime, recalling Niranjan Jyoti's 'Haramzada' statement, Sakshi Maharaj's praise for Nathuram Godse and his exhortation that women should produce 12 children, as also V K Singh branding the army chief as a criminal. The PM must dismiss such ministers and apologize to the nation.
